Yet another player in the house!

Since she was 4 days old Kendra has been attending  her sisters basketball games. That's a whole lot of hours of sitting in the bleachers! Finally, after 8 years of watching, this year she was able to get out on the hardwood herself! She started off the first game of her career in style by scoring her first basket about 10 seconds into her first game! When a bunch of 7 and 8 year olds are out on the court there's a lot of laughter and just genuine fun. It's been a lot of fun to go back to watching them at that level again in comparison to some of the heated competitive games you face at the older levels. 2nd grade basketball is a whole lot different than high school ball! It's amazing to see how far they come in just a few short years!
Kendra was pretty upset at first to learn that she was going to have to wear a pink uniform! She is just not a pink kind of girl and almost changed her mind about playing if she was going to have to go out there in pink! But she soon realized that pink was not so bad after all.  They all have matching hair bows, gym bags and even socks and whatever they may have lacked in skill those first few games on the court, they definitely made up for in style!!
Since she goes to school up in Paterson Kendra doesn't know very many kids in Prosser so she was kind of nervous about meeting all these new girls. Because she tends to be quite shy we thought it was even more important that she get to know some more kids from Prosser and she's been blessed to play with a pretty neat group of kids. It didn't take too long for her to start to feel comfortable and start having fun.

Happy Birthday Kenny friend!!!!

Happy Happy number 8 to our sweet sweet Kendra! It's hard to believe you are already 8 years old. What a gift you've been to us. Never a dull moment that is for sure. You are very very attached to your mommy, don't love to go to school...or so you say anyway. I think it's just a front, I think you actually like school because you sure come home pretty happy but you like to complain every morning about having to go. You prefer to hang out with the boys at school rather than the girls because you say soccer is so much funner than drama. And apparently, according to your teachers & some of the notes you come home with, there's more than a couple of those boys who have a crush on you. Lately you've been begging us to let you play grid kids football! Daddy seems to think that's a good idea but I'm not quite convinced yet that that would be a good idea. You are very blunt and to the point and sometimes say things that shock us all! You see the world in black & white and although you are very shy around other people, there are many times when you just blurt out exactly how you feel.....very similar to Ashley in some ways!
We love you very very much sweet girl!

rain boots from Peter!

We don't usually do big birthday parties so we decided this year we would do a friends party for you. We went to the roller rink one friday afternoon and had a bunch of friends meet us there. You all had a great time!
