Wenatchee basketball camp

There was a high school basketball camp scheduled for Wenatchee but unfortunately, a number of girls dropped out. Because so many girls dropped out we lost our 'classroom' that the girls were going to stay in. We also ended up only having enough girls for one team. BUT....it all worked out for the best because it was such a FUN camp!! We only had 7 players, and mostly young players! But all the girls got along great, there was no diva's, no drama, no whining and complaining (from parents or players:) We ended up camping at the Chelan County fair grounds with the Cox's, the Blair's, and Kyler. It was a lot of fun! The girls even got to enjoy an afternoon at the waterslides in Chelan! The dads went along on that trip while us mom's headed back to the campers so I didn't get any good pictures of the waterslides.
The girls played hard and beat some pretty big schools! They were very intimidated to be playing their first game against Lynden Christian but ended up beating them by quite a bit!  They only lost one game, and that was in OT.

Fun on the river with Old Faithful

Our trusty old bayliner just keeps running like a top:) The kids frequently complain that we need to update our boat to something with a wakeboard tower but that is not going to happen anytime soon. The last few years we've only taken the boat out two or three times a year so it would be really hard to justify having an expensive boat sitting there that's not getting used!! Bob hauled the boat out of storage on Thursday (july 4th) and got it cleaned up and ready to go for the season again. Friday afternoon we headed off to Levy for a couple of hours of fun.

Filling up my punch card...

It's been awhile since I've been in a hospital so......why not go for another round?
My back had been bothering me off and on for awhile, but that's nothing new and I didn't think a whole lot of it. Then one night I had a hard time sleeping because my lower right back just felt swollen. It kind of bothered me off and on all day. Around 6 I finally said something to Bob and brought up the idea that we may have to go see a Dr.  But, then I figured maybe I could just rest and sleep it off. I'm always afraid of going in and the dr's thinking that I'm some sort of hypochondriac or something because my chart is so thick! About 1am I gave up on sleeping and finally admitted to myself that I was going to need some help with this one. I woke up Brandi and asked her to drive me to the ER. I didn't want to have Bob bring me because I figured he may as well get some sleep since he had to work in the morning. Once at the ER they did a bunch of the regular tests and discovered that I had a stone completely blocking my ureter tube and an infection. They decided that I needed to be transferred to Virginia Mason in Yakima and have surgery ASAP.  I tried to convince them to just let me drive to Yakima but they weren't having it:/ So we woke up Bob, who got down to Prosser shortly before the transport arrived and he followed the ambulance down to Yakima. The driver had a bit of a led foot and Bob wasn't able to keep up with them on the freeway but was able to catch up by the time we got to the hospital. They brought me straight into pre-op and within 30 minutes we were in surgery! They put a stent into the ureter tube and were able to blast the stone with lithotripsy. They left the stent in and we were back home again by 9:30am:) On Tuesday I went in to have the stent removed and was warned that in about 15% of the cases, once the stent was removed their could be significant swelling in the tube which could cause things to shut down again. Sure enough, that night I ended up back in the ER with the ureter tube swollen completely shut again and preventing the kidney from draining. Some more tests, some anti-inflammatory's and some pain meds and 5 hours later we were back at home again. One of the things I always dread about medical procedures is the IV/blood work. My veins are just not cooperative and it usually takes a few attempts and some talented lab people to get the job done.

War Wounds

Tyler is playing summer league AAU at the moment. Monday night he had an 8:30 game in Mabton. So we were in Pasco at 4 for Kendra's volleyball game, headed home as soon as she was done and had just enough time to scarf down some dinner before we headed to Mabton for Tyler's basketball game. He had a great first quarter. Was playing very aggressively, getting some steals and blocks and hustling down the court. Then right at the beginning of the second quarter he went in for a lose ball and ended up in a pile of bodies on the floor. The other players got up fairly quickly but Tyler wasn't moving. We all thought he was just being kind of slow and needed a minute to catch his breath or something. His coach even commented.."he's a farm kid. He's good!' And then we heard him start crying, he lifted up his head and there was blood everywhere! His coach ran out on to the court to help him, blood was running through Tylers hands that were covering his mouth. We all assumed he had lost some teeth! Got him off the court and out into the hall by a sink and by that point he had blood running down his arms and dripping off his elbows. When we finally got the bleeding stopped.....we were shocked to see just a tiny small cut in his lip where it looked like a tooth had went through.

All that mess for a cut lip!! We figured that was the end of it and by the next day he would be just fine. But.....

Two days later and the swelling still seems to be getting worse instead of better! He is complaining of a sore tooth as well. A friend of ours who was at the game and is a dental hygienist, checked his teeth out right away when it had happened and they didn't seem to be lose at all. However, she said that it's very possible that he fractured a root or damaged a nerve which could cause a tooth to die. So for now, we're waiting a couple of days for the swelling to go down and then we'll see what we're dealing with!
Coach Cass happened to be working in the Mabton gym that day and helped with the clean up. I had to get a picture of her and Kendra together! Partially because we love Coach Cass!! But also, because it's kind of funny to see the two of them side by side:)

Summer league volleyball

After doing four years of summer league Monday night volleyball games with Brandi, we got a year off. And suddenly, we're right back at it again with Kendra. This year the Monday night games are being held at Pasco high school at 4:15. The first night was rough! It almost seemed like this group of girls had never played before. Their coach was wanting to run a 6-2 rotation so that Kambree and Kendra could both set but the girls had never ran that rotation during club and were very confused!! Thankfully the next week went a little better:)

Colfax Basketball Camp

Once again, we headed to Colfax for basketball camp. The girls have always LOVED this camp! We headed down on Sunday afternoon so we could have a better chance of getting a good parking spot for the camper. The school is undergoing construction this year so parking was definitely more limited. The kids slept in a classroom at the elementary school this year but thankfully we still had access to the high school gym as well. Lynn and Kambree came with us as well as Jacob Rainer. He came last year to hang out with Tyler and they had a great time!
Some of our games are played at Steptoe school. We were lucky enough to get a personal tour from one of the office staff who happened to be in the building. The original school was built in 1908!!
The bathroom has a very low section of ceiling that you have to duck underneath to get to the sinks and lockers.
The ceiling just gets lower and lower every year.
There is an old gym down in the basement of the school

Apparently this gym still gets used by the 46 students who attend this prek-8th grade school.

The second gym, added in 1940 is a quanset

Coach Kyler letting off some steam in between games.

The girls all slept in the classroom but hung out in the camper during some of their down time ::)
All the basketball players slept in one of the classrooms, Prosser had 24 girls attend camp!

Having a great time at the Colfax pool....

But forgetting the sunscreen

Completely worn out after a long day of swimming and biking

The boys took advantage of every time out and half time to shoot some hoops

Getting in a pick up game with some of the 7th grade girls

Cheering on Kendra...

Always entertaining Bryce
